A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Paul Prager has served as the Chairman and CEO of Beowulf Energy in New York City since 1990. Outside of his professional life, Paul Prager enjoys spending time at his family farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where for the past several years he has led extensive revitalization efforts for the nearby town of Easton.
A seaside town that dates back to the 18th century, Easton had fallen on hard times by the end of the 20th century. With most tourists drawn to the nearby village of St. Michael’s, Easton and its historic downtown were largely neglected. A lack of commercial activity and upkeep also meant that many of the historic buildings were in poor condition. Seeing the potential in Easton's downtown district, Mr. Prager established Bluepoint Hospitality Group with the express purpose of redeveloping the area.
Since initiating Easton's renaissance, Mr. Prager and Bluepoint have purchased and restored eight buildings in Easton, with more renovations underway. Thus far, the initiative has led to the establishment of diverse businesses, including a juice bar called BumbleBee Juice, a yoga studio (Blue Mat Yoga), and Weather Gage Coffee, a coffee shop that sources its beans from La Colombe Coffee Roasters. Each space is carefully designed and decorated with unique objects curated by Mr. Prager and his team.
Mr. Prager hopes that Bluepoint's investments will not only help to draw tourists to the historic community, but also keep locals excited about spending time there. Already, the renovations have drawn attention to Easton from both local and national publications, and a notable vibrancy has returned to the community.
